  • 600 g of chicken liver
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 4 small or 2 medium onions
  • 100 g of butter
  • 200 ml sweet cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 sour cucumber


Liverwurst is especially popular with children in Germany and Russia: If it is not possible to have a bread roll with Nutella in the morning for breakfast, then definitely it has to be one with liver sausage! You can easily prepare liverwurst yourself. Homemade chicken liver pâté is a simple recipe and you know exactly what you put into the liverwurst. You buy fresh ingredients, cook them in your kitchen and season with natural ingredients. There are no flavoring substances, no food colours and no preservatives involved.

This liverwurst recipe can be varied according to your mood. For example, you can add walnuts or dried plums - this gives the spread an exceptional, original flavor.

45 minutes

1. Roughly chop the onions.

2. Melt the butter.

3. Add onions and chicken liver and fry for 5-6 minutes on medium flame.

4. Add cream, lower the flame and simmer for 30 minutes. Season with salt and add coriander.

5. Allow the mixture to cool.

6. Puree with a blender stick.

7. Fill the liverwurst into glasses.

8. Serve on bread, garnish with sour cucumber and pine nuts.
