Ingredients

  • 4 chicken legs
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 3 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
  • 4 teaspoons honey
  • Chili
  • 3 thyme branches
  • 40 ml of vegetable oil
  • 1 sweet onion

Description

Traditionally chicken has always been prepared on New Year's Eve or other festive occasions. Cooks have always made an effort to surprise their guests, constantly worrying about the meat getting too dry.

When the grandmother or the mother revealed her cooking secrets, one learnt that the secret lies not only in the freshness of the meat, but also in the marinade.

In the middle of the 20th century, it was difficult to find fresh chilli in Eastern Europe, so they resorted to ground red peppers. Lemons, on the other hand, could be purchased both in summer and in winter.

Thyme is called  "Chabrez" in Russian. Thyme was used to prepare tea, but it was also used in cooking.

So this led to the ideal combination of all these tastes, which is crowned with long and impressive after-taste as well as high praise for the cook.
